Jubilee Celebrations - 27th May 2022
Wed 18 May 2022Dear Parents and Carers
We are excited to share with you our plans to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 27th May. On this day, children are invited to come into school wearing red, white and blue. During the morning, they will do a range of activities in different classes learning more about the Queen. Parents and carers are invited to come in to join the celebration for afternoon tea from 1pm. Members of staff will be around to show you where you can sit. You are welcome to bring in a picnic blanket, foldable chairs and food/drink for afternoon tea. The children will be having lunch as normal before they come to the field. Children’s parents/carers who can’t attend, can send their child/children in with a small selection of food.
Once everyone is settled, the children will be invited up in different year groups to sing the song they have been learning in their classes. You will get to enjoy a range of songs from different decades. Afternoon tea and the songs will be finished by 2.30pm.
This event is weather permitting. If we have to cancel the afternoon celebrations due to the weather, we will make a decision by 11am on the day and a ParentMail will be sent to you.
Kind Regards

Volunteering Opportunities
Fri 06 May 2022Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to be able to invite parents and carers back into school to support our children. If you would like to volunteer your time to predominantly support children with their reading, please contact me via admin@bithambrook.wilts.sch.uk. I will get back to you as soon as possible. To ensure we follow safeguarding guidance, we will need to carry out some background checks (DBS checks) prior to you starting.
In the past we have found the volunteering to be most successful when it happens regularly each week. If you think you will be able to volunteer some of your time on a regular basis, we would be very grateful.
If you have any questions, please contact me on the email address above.
Best wishes,
Amy Leighton

Ukraine Fundraising Update
Thu 28 Apr 2022Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you so much for supporting the Ukraine fundraising event at the end of term. We were blown away by how many parents came along to support the event and I’m sure you’ll agree the Year 5 and 6 children did a great job organising and running the event.
A special thank you to Year 5 and 6 parents who supported the children at home and helped with prizes etc… and once more we need to mention Jayden and Freddie in Year 6 who put forward the idea in the first place. We knew the event had been a success but felt very proud when we finally managed to count up the total of £750.92!
To add to this George in Year 1 raised a further £87.50 by setting up a stall outside his house.
The children at Bitham Brook never fail to impress us always showing kindness and support to others.
Kind regards
Mrs Carrie Hinder

FOBBS Easter Event and Y5/6 Ukraine Fair
Thu 24 Mar 2022On Friday 8th April, FOBBS will be holding an Easter event, with a cake stall and a chocolate tombola. If you are able, please can you donate some chocolate for the tombola. As it's Easter, it would be good to have some Easter eggs but any chocolate donation would be much appreciated. Please give your chocolate donation to your child's class teacher. You can do this any time before 8th April. If you are able to make or buy cakes for the cake sale, please bring them to school on the morning of April 8th and drop them at the office.
Thank you in advance for your support and thank you to FOBBS for organising the event. It's great that we can start fundraising again to support projects at Bitham Brook.
Best wishes

School Closure - Friday 18th February 2022
Fri 18 Feb 2022Dear Parents and Carers
School Closure – Friday 18th February
The school will be closed today because of the amber weather warning that is in place for our region.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but the Met Office’s warning for our region states that ‘there is a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life’. As there has been no change in this status, we have no choice but to close the school to protect children, parents and staff as it is unsafe to travel to the school site.
Yesterday evening, teachers started to make preparations to switch today’s lessons to online learning via Google Classrooms. Work for children should be online by 10.00 a.m. but may well be posted before that.
We are well aware that parents and carers have had little warning or time to prepare for the closure. In light of this short notice and the pressure that home learning can place on parents, teachers will predominantly set lessons that are easier to manage e.g. interactive resources, worksheets and video lessons.
Furthermore, please do not worry if your child is not able to complete all of the lessons set. No doubt for many this will be a difficult day trying to balance work and looking after children, and we do not want to add to those pressures.
The school office will not be open today for obvious reasons. I would like to apologise in advance for any difficulties this causes particularly if you experience login issues with Google Classroom which, history would teach us, is inevitable.
I hope you all have a safe day and enjoy a good half-term holiday.
Kind regards
Gareth Simons
