Tesco Stronger Starts Grant

We are delighted to have been awarded a grant as part of the Tesco Stronger Starts programme!

At Bitham Brook, we are passionate about educating children on the benefits of good nutrition and exercise habits and giving children the tools and knowledge to help them to make healthy lifestyle choices.

We have made use of the grant money in several areas throughout school and we have already seen our children benefit from the exciting new resources that they have been given. 

Phonics Books

We have purchased an entire collection of new phonics books for our Reception classes and the children have thoroughly enjoyed reading their new stories and learning new phonemes and graphemes.

Outdoor Play Equipment

Our KS1 children have been delighted by the addition of brand new play equipment for their outdoor area. This equipment has encouraged the children to enjoy the outdoors and build their confidence in outdoor play.

Cookery Equipment

We have expanded our DT Cookery curriculum this year thanks to the purchase of lots of new kitchen equipment funded by the Stronger Starts grant. Each year group has enjoyed a term's cookery lessons in our Design and Technology room and they have produced some excellent meals. It has been wonderful to watch the children developing their passion for cooking and improving their knowledge of nutrition so that they are armed with the tools to go forward and make educated, healthy choices.
